SaskWorks Venture Fund's 2012 Fundraising Cap Raised by Government of Saskatchewan

SaskWorks Venture Fund's 2012 Fundraising Cap Raised by Government of Saskatchewan February 14 2012

REGINA, Saskatchewan (February 14, 2012) – SaskWorks Venture Fund Inc. (the “Fund”)  is pleased to advise that the Government of Saskatchewan has increased the annual cap for tax credit investment into the Fund, being a Labour-Sponsored Venture Capital Corporation, from fifty million dollars (CDN) ($50,000,000.00) to fifty-five million dollars (CDN) ($55,000,000.00). The cut-off date under the Fund’s prospectus is February 29, 2012, after which date investments are no longer eligible for a tax credit for the 2011 fiscal year as mandated by the Labour-Sponsored Venture Capital Corporation Act or the Income Tax Act (Canada).

SaskWorks Venture Fund Inc., and its independent sale representatives, will endeavor to ensure that subscriptions for investment do not exceed the enhanced fifty-five million dollar cap. Although remote, it is possible that subscriptions for investment will exceed the increased cap level and where any excess occurs, the Fund will be required to decline such subscriptions and return them to the sales representatives unaccepted.

The SaskWorks Venture Fund is a Saskatchewan-based Labour-Sponsored Investment Fund that invests in small- and medium-sized private businesses. SaskWorks currently has over 22,250 shareholders and, since inception, has invested in 75 eligible businesses.

Hospitality Network

Hospitality Network January 01 2011

In January 2011, PFM made its largest individual investment to date in Hospitality Network Canada (2011) Inc., the preferred provider of managed communication and entertainment solutions for the Canadian healthcare market. Headquartered in Regina, the company provides television and Internet service to more than 380 hospitals and seniors’ care homes nationwide. Hospitality Network has established itself as the Canadian industry leader, demonstrating sector expertise and maintaining long-standing client relationships.

PFM’s investment in Hospitality Network is syndicated between the APEX investment Fund and the SaskWorks Venture Fund’s Diversified share class. The transaction allowed Saskatchewan residents, through their investment in the Funds, to purchase Hospitality Network from SaskTel and keep the company’s head office in the province.

Record-Breaking Year for SaskWorks Venture Fund

Record-Breaking Year for SaskWorks Venture Fund January 01 2011

Saskatchewan residents demonstrated overwhelming support for PFM Capital’s SaskWorks Venture Fund in the 2011 sales year, investing a record-breaking $50 million into the Fund! As Saskatchewan’s top-performing Labour-Sponsored Investment Fund since 2005, SaskWorks has consistently delivered positive returns for its shareholders while deploying significant capital into Saskatchewan’s private business community.

SaskWorks’ prospective investment opportunities currently outpace the Fund’s ability to raise capital. Our fundraising efforts, coupled with proceeds from the Fund’s exits, have allowed SaskWorks’ board and management team to approve for investment more dollars than were raised through sales since 2007. With nearly one third of the $50 million raised this year already approved for investment, the Fund is on pace to meet or exceed its capital placement goals in 2011.
