SaskWorks

The SaskWorks Venture Fund provides a unique opportunity for Saskatchewan residents to keep their investment dollars at home. Established in 2001 as a Labour-Sponsored Investment Fund (LSIF), SaskWorks invests exclusively in small- to mid-sized, private Saskatchewan businesses. In Saskatchewan, investors in LSIFs are eligible to receive a 15% federal tax credit and a 20% provincial tax credit on investments of up to $5,000.  As at June 1, 2011, the Fund has in excess of 20,000 Saskatchewan shareholders.

The SaskWorks Venture Fund is divided into two share classes: Diversifed (Class A) and Resources (Class A-R). Investors may choose to place 100% of their investment dollars in one of the share classes or divide their investment between the two by any percentage they choose.

Diversified Share Class (Class A)

SaskWorks’ Diversified share class invests in carefully selected Saskatchewan-based companies that represent geographic and sectoral diversity. The Diversified Fund’s key investment focuses are management buy-outs, manufacturing, oil and gas servicing and exploration and value-added agriculture.

Resources Share Class (Class A-R)

SaskWorks’ Resources shares class was introduced in 2006 to provide shareholders with increased access to Saskatchewan’s burgeoning resource sector. The Fund’s key investment emphaseses are oil and gas exploration and development, oil and gas service providers, mining, and renewable energy initiatives.
